Colorful Colorado

Having signed up for the trip a few months back, the UNO crew headed out to Colorado College to go support the hockey team in Colorado Springs. The journey started Friday at 7am leaving from campus. After a 9 hour drive, we hit up the hockey game to get smashed 5-1 by the tigers. The following morning we got up to go exploring out in garden of the gods park just a few miles down the road. Words cannot describe the beauty that’s within that place, it’s magical. The weather was unbelievable with sunny skies and a still wind. 4 hours of hiking landed us back where we started to be bombarded with some of the strongest winds I’ve ever experienced. Calling up a ride so our skin doesn’t get sandblasted off, we head to the rematch where UNO turns the tables and comes out with a 6-1 win over the tigers ending it all on a high note. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend a weekend. Enjoying nature with people I love, and experiencing all that there is to offer

McFoster’s Natural Kind Cafe

Driving down Farnam today, I saw the Johnson Deconstruction sign outside of the old McFoster’s Natural Kind Cafe. I hit up Aubri, whose brother owns the deconstruction company, to see if I could take some pictures for them. We set up a time later in the day for me to come out and get my hard hat on so I could capture a neat story.

Walking through the old building she told me about the history of what the cafe was all about, the people who frequented it, and what went on there. All the wood being taken from McFoster’s and the houses next doorĀ will be used at Reclaimed Enterprises, a company specializing in re-utilizing old wood for new constructions. It adds a vintage feel, and is better in the long run for the environment. I captured some great images, and hope to get some more of different deconstruction sites around town. Thanks to Aubri for touring me around and giving me the low down on a fantastic piece of Omaha history.

Kansas City Photo Trip

I decided a few weeks ago to hit up my cousin who also happens to be a photographer down in Kansas City. We set up a weekend for Jabaree, Matt, and I to come down and see all that KC has to offer. After packing up following work on Friday, we hit the road and started the journey. We hit up a few cityscape photo ops that night, and headed out all over town the next day. From abandoned churches to antique shops, we tried to see as much as we could with the daylight we had. I have to say it was one of the most productive days of photos I’ve had in a while. Can’t wait to get back down there and explore some more!

I seriously can’t believe how talented people are with graffiti, it’s crazy.

This was an alleyway designated for graffiti art. It was chock full of neat drawings and some cool pieces.
